It is with great pleasure that I inform you that The Emorimor, Papa Iteso, Augustine Lemukol Osuban will be our Guest of Honour at the 4th Teso Development International Conference (TDIC) on 18th–23rd September, 2017 at the University of East London, London, United Kingdom.
The theme of the conference is: Teso: Past, Present and Future. The aim of the conference is to foster a united approach to recognising the problems affecting Teso, identifying and prioritising strategies, opportunities and resources to tackle them.
The six-day’s conference will bring together the Iteso, friends of Teso, and key development stakeholders including the political, economic, social, cultural and religious leaders from Teso.
In addition, distinguished local, international, and Diaspora based strategic development organisations that work in Teso region and Uganda as a whole will take part.
In his acceptance letter, The Emorimor said, “I accept with gratitude your invitation to be Guest of Honour at the 4th TDIC slated for 18th to 23rd Sept this year i London. I will be travelling with Toto Akaliait Agnes Osuban. I would also like to include the Vice Chancellor of Kumi University, Dr Young Gil Lee, who is already collaborating with us in ICU on many aspects of development in Teso”.
The Emorimor will also travel with a delegation of his ministers, and religious and political leaders from Teso.
At the conference, the minsters of Iteso Cultural Union will present papers on the work of the chiefdom in health, education, cultural preservation, and improving economic wellbeing of the people.
The Emorimor will initiate Ejkt. Michael Okwalinga Emokol and Ejkt. Solomon Emong, Iteso elders in the United Kingdom he recently appointed as chiefs and ambassadors of Iteso Cultural Union in the UK and Europe.
The Akaliait will officiate a workshop on the role of women in promoting the culture and development in Teso. After the conference, she will initiate Mrs. Beatrice Okwalinga and Mrs. Hellen Aretor Emong, the wives of the two chiefs into their roles.
The visiting delegation will attend a grand dinner to raise funds to buy a mobile clinic vehicle to improve health in Teso.
